The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Combined Medical Services (CMS) examination shall be conducted according to the following plan:
Part - I : UPSC CMS COMPUTER BASED EXAMINATION (500 marks)
The UPSC Combined Medical Services (CMS) 2024 Examination candidates will take the Computer based examination in two Papers, each Paper carrying a maximum of 250 marks.

Part - II : UPSC CMS Personality Test (100 Marks)
UPSC Combined Medical Services (CMS) 2024 Examination Personality test carrying 100 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the results of the Computer based examination.

UPSC CMS Personality Test : ( 100 Marks ) : Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Combined Medical Services (CMS) Examination Personality Test carrying 100 marks of such of the candidates who qualify on the results of the Combined Medical Service computer based examination.
The UPSC Combined Medical Service computer based examination in both the papers will be completely of objective (Multiple choice answers) type.

The Union Public Service Commission have discretion to fix qualifying marks in any or both the papers of the Combined Medical Services (CMS) examination.
Penalty for wrong answers - There will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Combined Medical Services (CMS) objective type question papers.
- There are four alternatives for the answers to every Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) Combined Medical Services (CMS) question. For each question for which a wrong answer has been given by the candidate, one third (0.33) of the marks assigned to that question will be deducted as penalty.
